"
It's the Party of the Popcorn"
Welcome to Our Website
_______________________
Being our seventh year and it being the year of the Ox according to
Chinese calendar; lucky number seven and the Ox symbolizing
“hardworking and friendly” attributes; our Festival is in great
position to move ahead. Our theme this year; “Are ya’ Reddy
for Some Popcorn?” shows our party of the popcorn
continues even with the recession days ahead. Our goal is to
provide as much FREE entertainment during these hard times that you
and your family can do without costing you a dime. We are
giving away FREE popcorn, FREE events for children, FREE admissions
to our bands, and FREE events for adults as well. We will
offer familiar contests such as the world’s only Redenbacher
Look-alike Contest, Popcorn Eating Contests, and Raffles; we are
offering a Popcorn Recipe Cook-off and a Scarecrow Decorating
Contest this year.
We
are happy to continue our relationship with Luehr’s Rides and
Carnival again which was voted as one of the nation’s top five
carnivals and is noted as being clean, wholesome, and
family-oriented. They will start their festivities on Thursday
night, just one day ahead of the Popcorn Festival itself. And the
cost is very reasonable for all event goers!
Please come and enjoy our Tribute Bands (free admissions) this year
and open the link to each one for a run-down of the tribute bands
listed in the Featured Events column on web page. Due to several
requests from you last year, we are having our second Motorcycle
Ride In to take place on Saturday. We hope to even make it
better next year.
We
want to thank the many volunteers who have come on board as part of
“The Reddy Brigade”. You will see them in their new
Reddy Brigade T-shirts this year made exclusively for our
volunteers. Give them a pat-on-the-back for a job well-done when
you see them and remember; we would not have the quality of Festival
without them.
This year has brought on changes to the Festival Board as we are
rewriting our by-laws and making new changes for 2010. We hope to
announce new changes later in the year as we provide more
opportunities to our students and citizens in this great county.
Also, we want to invite new members as we begin to activate a
membership drive this year. If you are interested, please contact
any of the members listed under the Contact tab on our website.
Also, if you are interested in becoming a sponsor, don’t hesitate to
ask us about our “Popcorn Perks Program” and what it
can do for you as a business, sponsor, or organization.
This event is brought to you by dedicated and conscience individuals
that love this community. In their spare time they volunteer to
call, run, email, attend meetings—they are problem-solvers and
idea-creators. They put all they can into bringing this community
the best Popcorn Festival on earth….and they do! Please don’t
forget to thank them.
Sincerely,
The Many Sponsors, Volunteers, Committee Leaders, and the Popcorn
Festival Board: Evelyn Brown, President; Janice Cox, Vice-president;
Angie Haile, Secretary, and Rose Mary Price, Treasurer.
