Sundays in the Park
Brings Dinner and Concert
The Popcorn Festival has teamed up with the
Brazil Concert Band (
) to bring Sundays in the Park: A Dinner and
Concert Series for 2010. The Festival Board and Concert Band
Director Matt Huber has come together to offer this unique Dinner
and Concert Series in a way to bring together the community and
offer a nice Sunday evening of great food, dining, strolling, and
music to our citizens.
Five dinners are being offered by the Popcorn
Festival during the summer series to hopefully mimic the musical
theme of the Concert Band performance for the Dinner and Concert
Series. Our dinner dates are as follows:
06 June Chicken-n-noodles, mashed potatoes, green beans, &
yeast rolls.
13 June: Italian Beef Dinner
25 July: Lasagna Dinner
01 Aug: German theme with German food (to be determined).
29 Aug: To be determined.
Dinners will be $7.50 (adults) and $4.00 (children under 10) at the
door which includes dessert. Iced tea and lemonade will be served
with dinner.
The dinners will be held between 5:30 – 7:30 PM
on designated Sundays in the Forest Park Pavilion in Brazil, IN.
The Popcorn Festival is known for having flare
and the service they will provide during the dinners has a unique
flare. The Popcorn Festival staff dresses up with white shirts,
black pants, and bowties, like Orville Redenbacher, and wait on you
at your table. Attendees don’t have to wait in line to get their
food in the typical buffet style; our servers will do that for you
with Redenbacher smiles and Orville look-alike attire with the
occasional red suspenders. You pick up your desserts and drinks,
sit down, and we serve the food to your table as you listen to
background music of harp player Dave Henry. The tables will have
covers and real flowers to compliment the ambiance as you “… eat in
a formal, picnic table fashion.” as stated by one board member.
Our servers will come around to fill your drinks as needed. And
best of all, we clean up so you can stroll the beautiful park
grounds, get an ice cream bar or pop from the concession stand, and
then head over to hear the Brazil Concert Band perform who starts
their performances at 8:00 PM. It’s just like
the-good-ole-summer-times of our past! You could call it a Norman
Rockwell moment that comes alive each Sunday evening at Forest Park
in Brazil.
If you have children who may not like the dinners, you can elect to
purchase snack foods from the Concession Stand that opens up at 7:30
PM and proceeds support the Humane Society of Clay County.
We do want to emphasize the menu may change but we will keep the
community posted on the exact dinner items for the upcoming dinners
with newspaper notices and ads and our website. Advanced tickets
can be purchased at a fifty cent savings at any First Financial
Banking Centers in Clay County, Farm Bureau Coop Credit Union on St.
Rd. 59 at I-70, Marc Adamson’s Party Store, Reberger’s Cleaners in
Brazil, Brazil Daily Times and any Festival member. The cost is $7.50
(adults) if bought in advance and you
will get your dessert FREE so you save fifty cents on your meals and
no waiting at the door where the cost is $7.50 and $.50 for dessert. If you need more ticket or dinner
information, contact Alice Wools at 812.448.2245 or Mary Ellen
Elliott at 812. 986.2766.
The proceeds from the dinners support the Popcorn Festival and its
programs such as scholarships, park renovations, and other community
projects. Our goal continues to put Clay County in the national
light and we will continue to make our community one of the best
around. We are proud of our volunteers who make this work for you
and us. They are a very important part of the Festival activities
throughout the year. This year’s Popcorn Festival is to be held
01-03 October 2010 at Forest Park in Brazil with the carnival
staring on the 30th September.
