Clay County

through Sunday

"
It's the Party of the Popcorn"
Welcome to Our Website
_______________________
With thanks from one of our fans in Brazil,
South America; the theme “It’s the Party of the Popcorn” sets
the mood for the Festival’s fun time this year. Besides our
familiar contests such as the world’s only Redenbacher Look-alike
Contest, Popcorn Eating Contests, and Raffles; we are offering a
Popcorn Recipe Cook-off and a Scarecrow Decorating Contest this
year. And we can’t forget the exciting Lion’s Club Bed Race that
offers up fun and competition.
We are happy to continue our relationship with
Luehr’s Rides and Carnival again which was voted as one of the
nation’s top five carnivals and is noted as being clean, wholesome,
and family-oriented. They will start their festivities on Thursday
night, just one day ahead of the Popcorn Festival itself.
We are pleased to announce that the Food
Network and Al Roker Productions will be doing a shoot during our
Festival, all day Saturday, about Festival Foods. The show will be
called Festivals, Boardwalks, and Fairs that will
highlight foods from these events. The Redenbacher Popcorn Festival
was the only Festival not from the East Coast to participate and we
could not be more proud to once again put Clay County on the
National Map. The show is expected to air on cable network’s Food
Channel the summer of 2009. Sunny Anderson from the Food Network
will be visiting our Food Booths and participating in preparing
traditional Midwestern foods at our Festival. She may also be
judging some of our Popcorn Eating and Popcorn Recipe Contests.
Please come and enjoy our Tribute Bands (free
admissions) this year and open the link to each one for a run-down
of the tribute bands listed in the Featured Events column on web
page. Due to several requests from you last year, we are having our
first Motorcycle Ride In to take place on Saturday.
We hope to even make it better next year.
We want to thank the many people who have come
on board to be a part of “The Reddie Brigade” as volunteers.
You will see them in their new Reddie Brigade T-shirts this
year. Give them a pat-on-the-back for a job well-done when you see
them.
Also, we are happy that Lecia Brown has come on
board to assist us with sponsorships and donations this year. If
you are interested, please contact her at info listed in upper,
right hand corner, and ask her about the “Popcorn Perks Program” and
what it can do for you as a business, sponsor, or organization.
This event is brought to you by dedicated and
conscience individuals that love this community. In their spare
time they volunteer to call, run, email, attend meetings—they are
problem-solvers and idea-creators. They put all they can into
bringing this community the best Popcorn Festival on earth….and they
do! Please don’t forget to thank them.
Sincerely,
Popcorn Festival Board and Members: Evelyn Brown, President; Janice
Cox, Vice-president; Angie Haile, Secretary, and Rose Mary Price,
Treasurer.
